GER Mike Zellen’s Letter of Thanks and Appreciation to the Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine, Vermont, Rhode Island, Connecticut and New York Elks
Donna and I would like to thank all of the Elks of Area 1 for their generous support in the months leading up to the Grand Lodge Convention in Houston, Texas.
We are humbled by the time, energy and effort that each of you put forth in support of my campaign for GER. Every event held at the convention was a huge success and ran like clockwork and we hope that everyone enjoyed their stay in Houston.
I would like to mention and thank a few very special people that went above and beyond to ensure that things ran smoothly and made sure that Massachusetts and all of Area 1 would be out front and noticed. To the Massachusetts State President and his wife, Harry and Rhonda See for hosting the Massachusetts Hospitality Room throughout the convention and for hosting the special Massachusetts Appreciation Reception on Saturday afternoon. To my Administrative Aid, Tony Piccolo and his wife Maureen, along with many of my Massachusetts Elk friends who planned and hosted the GER Reception on Monday evening and the Grand Luncheon on Wednesday. To Nancy Kelly and Tim Avelino for making and donating the candy favors given out at the Monday Cocktail Reception. To Peter Plecinoga and his wife Wendy who drove from Massachusetts to transport the gifts, GER and First Lady Pins and other items to Houston. And to Joe and Dottie Balestieri and Tony and Maureen Piccolo who donated all of the items that were in the gift bags that were given out at the Wednesday Luncheon.
To Denise and Craig Shurtleff who planned, organized and lead the hundreds of Elks in the colorful and patriotic celebration after my election as GER on Monday morning. Also, to Jim and Linda Fuller who worked tirelessly to kept track and mail out my fundraising pins. To Bill Minichello for his help in proof reading many of my writings. To State Treasurer John White and State Secretary Mark Cronin for doing the book work in keeping the fundraising events records up to date.
We are also grateful to Officers and Members of Saugus-Everett Elks Lodge and all of the other Area 1 Lodges who supported us by hosting fundraisers and making contributions to the campaign as well as to all Elks for their individual efforts and contributions.
To my daughter Jennifer, who made me so proud when she placed my name into nomination on Monday morning as well as to my brother Tom and to Frank Olivieri, who both seconded my nomination.
And to many, many others who unselfishly gave of their time in helping us prepare to accept this great honor. We are grateful for your support and for your friendship.
With appreciation and our love,
Mike and Donna Zellen, Grand Exalted Ruler and First Lady
